General Information

Commercial Driver's License Program- Class A

Are you ready to start an exciting new career? Trucking is one of the most important and high-demand jobs in the country. Our CDL program is designed to be safe, flexible, and effective. As a licensed and federally approved school, we follow all the latest safety rules to make sure you are ready for the road.
Whether you train in Roanoke, Buena Vista, or Clifton Forge, our program gives you the hands-on experience and professional skills you need to succeed.

How the Program Works
We guide you step-by-step through a clear path designed for busy adults. You will move through different phases of training—from your first day of class to your final state driving test.
When you finish the program and pass your state exam, you will earn:
•Ìý Ìý A state-issued Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
•Ìý Ìý Official ELDT certificates show you completed the required national training.

Training Requirements
To graduate, you will complete 120 instruction hours:
•Ìý Ìý 8 hours: Orientation and classroom learning.
•Ìý Ìý 32 hours: Online or book-based theory coursework.
•Ìý Ìý 80 hours: Hands-on training behind the wheel. This includes 15 hours of practice testing and your final state driving exam.

Program Services & Schedule
We make it easy to fit training into your life with flexible hours:
•Ìý Ìý Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM – 7:00 PM
•Ìý Ìý Saturday–Sunday: 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM
•Ìý Ìý Convenient Testing: You can take your Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP) knowledge tests right on our campus.

What You Need to Get Started
Before enrolling in the CDL A program, you must meet these requirements:
1.Ìý Ìý Be at least 18 years old.
2.Ìý Ìý Pass a DOT medical exam.
3.Ìý Ìý Pass a drug screen before starting classes.
4.Ìý Ìý Important: You must get your Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP) before you are allowed to begin driving the trucks.

FastForward Financial Assistance AvailableÌý

Qualifying Virginia residents may be eligible for FastForward financial assistance, which could reduce the cost of tuition by two-thirds.
